Mohegan was contracted to fabricate and install a custom "Mediterranean Style" iron porch and staircase. Needless to say, this was not an easy task. The porch consists of flooring fabricated from concentrically curved 1-1/2" steel tubing of differing gauges. The tighter the curve the heavier the gauge to avoid deformation. The smallest curves were made from solid 1-1/2" bar. The porch frame was fabricated from steel channel (bent the hard way) and capped with 1/4" plate.

The entire staircase was fabricated in-house, disassembled, and reassembled onsite. Like the porch frame, it to, was fabricated from channel bar with a 1/4" plate, but with one slight "twist" or two (Pun intended!) ...It required us to create compound curves. Thanks to the precision rolling of Ortiz Welding in Hawthorne, NY and the expert guidance of our lead fabricator, the curves were flawless.

Belly bar railings with a special Blum handrail were the finishing touch. The porch was installed on 4" Sch. 40 pipe set in 6ft deep footings. All components were hot-dipped galvanized and painted with two coats of premium Vinylast iron enamel. Color: Smithy Black.
